We've added a new feature to this web site - a media section!  Click the "Media" button at the top.

  • You can listen to an interview between Bruce and Dr. David Stevens, the host of Christian Doctors' Digest.  It was published in May, 2009 and they have graciously given permission for it to be available here.
  • In April, 2009, we had a real scare.  An x-ray of Bruce's arm suggested the possibility of metastatic cancer.  We praise God that the workup was negative. but  we thought you still might like to hear the address given to his crewmates on the Africa Mercy the day after he had received the news of the possibility of cancer.
  • On March 28, 2009 Bruce was inducted into the Medical Missions Hall of Fame.  There is a video that was presented that night, followed by Bruce's acceptance of the award.
  • Are You Just Managing Your Blessings - or Investing for Rewards? This the topic of a presentation given to the 2008 National Meeting of the Christian Medical and Dental Association. It is now on the media page.
  • video (from a few years ago) explaining PAACS  is now on the media page as well.

The Faith section of our hometown newspaper, Fayetteville Observer, had a nice article published on April 3, 2009.  Hope you enjoy it!

Both Books Now Available! PDF Print E-mail

Our latest book is NOW AVAILABLE!

Your_Mission_-_Front_cover_-_thumbnail"Your Mission: Get Ready, Get Set, GO" completes the two-volume update of the original "Handbook for Short-Term Medical Missionaries".  A companion volume to "Medical Missions: Get Ready, Get Set, GO!, it is designed for all folks who are considering missionary work, whether short-term or long-term.

Written with dry humor and attention to detail, this little book covers just about everything you will run into while preparing for and living your first weeks and months as a cross-cultural missionary.  Most of all, the emphasis throughout the book is to keep the main thing the main thing – bringing glory to God and deepening a relationship with Him. Buy it - or both of them - NOW!!!

This is the companion volume just for medical missionaries, published 2009

"A Must Read"

"The stories will grab your heart and the content will challenge you"

"You would be foolish  to leave home without it"

"Read through it in one sitting"

"So Get Ready, Get Set, and GO!  May God bless and use you to make a world of difference you never thought possible.”

Read the full endorsements by Franklin Graham, David Stevens and others (click here).  Both Mercy Ships and World Medical Mission have selected it as one of the resources they distribute to their medical missionary volunteers.

Medical Missions:  Get Ready, Get Set, GO! is here.  You can order it by going to the Book section!

It is 196 pages long, full of information needed by those who are considering medical missions and there are 10 stories from Bruce's experiences in medical missions  - sometimes humorous, sometimes sad and sometimes embarrassing.

They all demonstrate what God is able to teach you and how He can work with and through you.    It is a great way to understand the stresses of medical missions so you can pray more intelligently for medical missionaries you know.  For you who are going, it is the perfect-sized book to slip into your pocket and take with you! The price is only $12.95 plus S/H.

Searching for Significance PDF Print E-mail
Some have said that mid-life crisis is the switch from a search for success to a search for significance. We would agree. Why else would a surgeon-entrepeneur and an accountant stop chasing the "good life" in a hope to find a way of living where "Well done, good and faithful servant" is the highest reward?

Since his retirement in December of 1997 from the position of the senior partner of his general surgical practice, Bruce and Micky have spent much of each year as short-term missionaries with the goal of serving God by serving career missionaries. Bruce gives both medical and administrative help and Micky uses her experience as an accountant/controller to help wherever they are called to go. <Read more>
