Medical Missions: Get Ready, Get Set, GO!
We are excited to announce...
...that Medical Missions: Get Ready, Get Set, GO! is now available!
This unique book is based on the premise that experiencing medical missions is not like other short-term or long term mission experiences. In addition to all of the usual stresses that all missionaries experience in a new environment, trying to practice medicine the way you have been taught in a world where you have so little is very difficult. You will often get blind-sided when you least expect it. You can minimize the pain you will feel and increase your effectiveness if you take the advice in this book. It is designed to make you think about the situation and your possible reaction before it happens. This book is full of the insights (spiritual, philosophical and practical) needed by you who are considering medical missions. Some of the material is updated and revised from the popular Handbook for Short-Term Medical Missionaries but in addition, there are 10 new stories from Bruce's personal experiences in medical missions. The stories are sometimes humorous, sometimes sad and on occasion, embarrassing. They all demonstrate what God is able to teach you and how He can work with and through you. If you are interested in what God might have to say to you about becoming a medical missionary, this is just the book. It is also a great way for you non-medical folks to understand the particular stresses that medical missionaries face every day. If you are a short-term missionary, it is the perfect-sized book to slip into your pocket and take with you to the mission field. If you would like to read what others have said about the book, click here.
The price is only $12.95 plus S/H (8% state tax is due if you live in NC). It can be ordered below with PayPal. If you are interested in paying in some other manner or ordering in bulk (more than 2), please look at this sheet with pricing and shipping information and contact us.
Now, we don't want you to buy something you haven't sampled. If you would like to read some of the chapters and some of the stories before purchasing the book, please click here! Enjoy them - then come back and buy it! Buy one for you, one for your friend and one for your church library!
The companion volume, Your Mission: Get Ready, Get Set, GO!, will soon be available (April, 2010) and adds over 200 pages of practical information helpful to all short-term and career missionaries, both medical and non-medical. If you are medical, you will want both volumes (have we got a deal for you!). These volumes are designed to be stand-alone versions of the work, but there is material that is duplicated in both books because both groups of people needed to hear it. That duplication of material is why you will receive a substantial discount when you buy both! By changing the format from the original, we added a lot more material, made the books small enough to fit into your suit pocket and made it much cheaper, even if you buy both. It's a great deal for you, even if it isn't so great for us!
Have a Kindle? Want to read it on your computer? It is now available as a PDF file and can be ordered through PayPal below. The PDF file will be sent to the e-mail address associated with the PayPal order. (Please do not share the file with others without paying for it - that is a theft of intellectual property and such behavior doesn't befit you!)
